The wind resource in Ambler is predicted by AWS Truewind modeling as a low Class 1 (on a scale of 1 to 7), but higher wind speeds can be found in the hills to the north. Given the very high fuel price in the community, wind power could be viable as an alternative source of energy, although a better solution may be to connect Ambler and Shungnak by electrical intertie and develop wind power near Shungnak.
