The Shungnak and Kobuk wind resource is predicted by AWS Truewind modeling as a modest Class 1 to 2 (on a scale of 1 to 7), but given the very high fuel prices in the communities, wind power may be viable as an alternative source of energy. For NANA Regional Corporation, V3 Energy LLC prepared a WAsP model of the wind resource in the area, based on Shungnak airport AWOS data, and recommended potential wind power site options.
