Cold Bay has a superb Class 7 wind resource (on a scale of 1 to 7) with a low percentage of time with calm winds and only moderate turbulence. Extreme wind probability is somewhat high but typical of the Aleutian Islands. The met tower was located at an excellent location for wind power development but other site options are possible.
